Tarrant Area Food Bank has been working to change that. With the help of our network of more than 300 Partner Agencies, this year we have been able to distribute about 26 million meals worth of food to North Texans.

TAFB Partner Agencies visit our Distribution Center every day to pick up fresh, frozen and nonperishable food for the communities they serve—children, families, senior citizens and others in need. TAFB also partners with local organizations to provide Mobile Pantries in communities with limited access to healthy food.

In order to continue meeting that need and to expand our reach in communities, we launched our Building to Feed Communities capital campaign in 2010. On Sept. 15, 2015, we celebrated the completion of the first phase of our campaign, which involved opening our Dorothy and Norman M. Kronick Building where TAFB administrative and program staff now have offices.

The next phase of the campaign is focused on remodeling our Distribution Center, which has been in place since 1989, to allow us to be able to receive and distribute more food. The project will include improving our cold storage space, expanding our freezer space, and enhancing our warehouse management system.

This campaign is not just about the quantity of food we will be able to distribute, but also about the quality of the food. More refrigeration space will mean more opportunities to provide greater amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables to our hungry neighbors. With these renovations, our goal is being able to distribute 42 million meals worth of food by 2020.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
