Help Provide Summer Meals to Children
More than 200,000 children in the North Texas counties we serve live in households that don’t always have access to nutritious food. Tarrant Area Food Bank’s Summer Meals program helps bridge the gap in the summer months for children who participate in free/reduced price meals programs during the school year. With summer fast approaching, TAFB is now accepting applications from churches, apartment complexes, schools and other organizations interested in hosting Summer Meals for children.
Tarrant Area Food Bank works to make it easy for organizations to participate in the Summer Meals program. Our Food for Kids team will handle the paperwork, order the food and have it delivered to your site. We will also work with USDA and Texas Department of Agriculture to ensure that all food provided to children meets requirements.
Your organization will need a site supervisor dedicated to overseeing the delivery and distribution of meals. Site supervisors will also be responsible for participating in site visits and keeping accurate records of meals served. Before Summer Meals begins, TAFB will provide training to site supervisors to help ensure that programs get off to a great start.
