Making a Difference Together
People like you make it possible for Tarrant Area Food Bank to continue empowering communities to eliminate hunger. With your help, we are able to provide food, education and resources to children, families and seniors across North Texas. As 2016 comes to a close, we look back at the accomplishments made over the last year thanks to your support.
Community Support
Because of your contributions over the last year, TAFB was able to provide access to 24.8 million nutritious meals to North Texans through a network of 270 Partner Agencies. Through our mobile solutions, Food for Kids programs and Social Services, we were able to make these meals more accessible.
With the help of dedicated volunteers, we can reach across 13 North Texas counties to make a difference in peoples’ lives. During the last fiscal year, more than 23,000 volunteers donated 68,000 hours of their time to support our mission. Volunteers help us ensure that nutritious food makes it to the tables of hungry families and that our programs run smoothly.
Through innovative programming, TAFB is able to provide resources to help North Texans thrive. The TAFB Nutrition Services team provides hands-on training and education through Cooking Matters and Community Gardens programs. Meanwhile, the TAFB Community Kitchen offers fast-paced culinary job training for people from all backgrounds. About 85 percent of students find jobs in the food service industry after graduating from the 16-week program.
Thank You
As the new year approaches and new challenges arise, we know your continued support will see us through. We look forward to working with you to achieve our vision of communities where no one has to go hungry.
“To all of those whose support has been an invaluable component, we say thank you.”
– TAFB Executive Director Bo Soderbergh
