Tarrant Area Food Bank, Denton Cares and WARM Launch New Mobile Feeding Pantry in Wise County

300 Families Expected to Receive Assistance Each Month

FORT WORTH, TEXAS, May 26, 2017…Wise County organizations dedicated to feeding hungry people, including Denton Cares, WARM (Wise Area Relief Mission), Decatur ISD, Texas A&M Agrilife Extension, local churches, hospitals and others have partnered with Tarrant Area Food Bank to launch a new mobile food pantry in Decatur, Texas.

Beginning on Saturday, June 3, it is expected that some 300 families will receive food assistance at the new mobile pantry located at Decatur ISD, 702 E. Carpenter Street, Decatur, Texas, between the hours of 9:00-11 a.m. The mobile pantry will be operational on the first Saturday of each month between 9:00-11 a.m.

“The issue of hunger is very real in every community, which is why we’re all partnering together to ensure that people get the food they need,” said Bo Soderbergh, executive director, Tarrant Area Food Bank. “It’s shocking when people learn that one of six people in our local area doesn’t have enough food to eat. These organizations who have come together in Wise County are making sure that no one has to go hungry.”

Tarrant Area Food Bank will deliver food for distribution each Saturday, which will include about 80% fresh produce.

“It’s no longer about just pushing out canned goods and rice,” said Soderbergh.

“It’s about making sure that everyone has equal access to healthy, nutritious foods and that’s what we’ll be doing in Wise County.”
