One of every four children experiences hunger in North Texas. Therefore, many children rely on meal and snack programs offered by their schools. Once summer break begins, regular access to nutritious meals ends.
You can help Tarrant Area Food Bank beat summer hunger! Here are three ways to make a difference today.
1. Virtually raise funds to make meals on the table a reality.
For every one dollar raised, Tarrant Area Food Bank can help provide food for five meals to hungry children and families in need. Register as a coordinator for the TAFB Virtual Food Drive. Using online tools like email and social media, rally your friends and family together to help make summer more bearable for a hungry child.
2. Donate at the register.
On your next shopping trip to Walmart donate your spare change or more toward the Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign in partnership with Feeding America. Include your billing zip code along with your donation and proceeds will benefit your local food bank. Fight Hunger. Spark Change. ends Monday, May 15, 2017.
3. Stamp Out Hunger on Saturday, May 13!
Join Tarrant Area Food Bank and the National Association of Letter Carriers in the nation’s largest food drive. Donating food couldn’t be easier. Bag your canned beans, dried pasta, bottled pasta sauce and more on the morning of Saturday, May 13 for your neighborhood postman to pick up. Donations will go to local food pantries and food banks, including Tarrant Area Food Bank.
Through community support, Tarrant Area Food Bank offers assistance to those experiencing hunger year round. With your help, hungry children can have a better chance at experiencing summer fun on a full stomach. Thank you for helping us make sure that no one has to go hungry this summer.
