Tyson Foods Funds TAFB Mobile Food Pantry

With a generous donation of $25,000, Tyson Foods will provide year-round support for a mobile food pantry located at Mission Central. A partner of Tarrant Area Food Bank, this mobile pantry is located in the mid-cities and provides food distribution every other Friday to some 400 local families who don’t get enough nutritious food to eat. Because of the gift from Tyson Foods, more fresh produce and lean proteins will be included at each distribution.

“We can’t put into words how meaningful this gift of $25,000 is for Tarrant Area Food Bank and our partner, Mission Central,” said Bo Soderbergh, executive director, Tarrant Area Food Bank. “One in six people right here in the Metroplex doesn’t get enough food to eat. Because of donors like Tyson Foods who understand the importance of healthy foods and make a commitment to funding our mission, we’re able to keep food on the plates of hungry people.”

Hunger relief is the primary way Tyson Foods gives back to local communities. Building stronger, healthier communities is a commitment Tyson Foods and TAFB share. That’s why this donation is critical to the community.

At a special event on September 8, 2017, Tarrant Area Food Bank and Mission Central joined together to thank representatives from Tyson Foods at the mobile pantry location in Hurst, Texas for their generosity. Following the short ceremony, Tyson Foods employees served as volunteers and handed out food to folks in need, a volunteer role they provide on a regular basis.
