Gardening can be tough in the hot Texas summer! Learn how to water your garden more efficiently by using beginner drip irrigation techniques.

You will hear from Tarrant Area Food Bank’s Community Garden staff who will talk about different methods of drip irrigation that can be used in a backyard or community garden. There are several types of irrigation techniques available for vegetable gardens: drip buckets, in-ground irrigation, PVC watering grids, ollas and hand watering. The pros and cons of each system and what it would take to set them up in your home or community garden will be discussed.

The Drip Irrigation workshop will include the following activities:

  • Presentation on backyard irrigation by TAFB Gardeners
  • Hands-on implementation of a PVC pipe irrigation system for the Pine Tree Estates Community Garden
  • Guides on how to install a PVC pipe irrigation system

Bring your garden design and irrigation questions for free workshop held at the Pine Tree Estates Community Garden!

Workshops will be held outdoors. Some tent coverage and seating will be provided. We suggest wearing layers of weather-appropriate clothing that you do not mind getting dirty and closed-toed shoes.
