HelloFresh Responds to Rising Child Food Insecurity with 15,000 Meals for North Texas Families
Back-to-school distribution in The Colony will provide nutritious meals as nearly one in four children in TAFB’s service area faces hunger
The Colony, TX, [July 31, 2026]— HelloFresh and Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) will distribute 5,000 nutritious meals to families in The Colony on Friday, July 31, as students and families prepare for the new school year.
The event is one of three back-to-school distributions supported by a donation of 15,000 HelloFresh meals to TAFB. The donation comes as Feeding America’s latest Map the Meal Gap study estimates that more than 601,000 neighbors across TAFB’s 13-county service area experience food insecurity, including nearly 215,000 children. The distribution will serve up to 1,000 people while supplies last.
WHAT: A community food distribution providing HelloFresh meals to North Texas families ahead of the new school year. Media will have opportunities to capture food distribution, volunteers and families receiving nutritious food.
Interviews will be available with representatives from Tarrant Area Food Bank and HelloFresh.

WHY: Nearly one in four children across TAFB’s service area faces hunger, and child food insecurity increased in every county TAFB serves. Since 2020, the region’s population has grown by 8%, while the number of neighbors experiencing food insecurity has increased by more than 32%.
Summer can place additional pressure on families when children lose access to dependable school meals and households are also preparing for back-to-school expenses. HelloFresh’s 15,000-meal donation will support families through three back-to-school events in Haltom City, Lewisville and The Colony, helping provide nutritious food at a critical time.
