Our Mission

In the counties that Tarrant Area Food Bank serves, one in seven people and one in four children face hunger. US Government data shows that beef prices have increased by 14 percent, pork is up 12 percent, and poultry has increased by 6.6 percent compared to prices in December 2020. We believe that all people should have access to healthy meals. Our mission is to empower our communities by providing food, resources, and education so that no one is left hungry. We’re the primary source of donated food for many feeding programs and hunger-relief charities in the 13 counties that we serve. However, for our rural counties there is still a need for battling food insecurity.

Denton County Volunteer Opportunities

Every year, passionate volunteers in our community donate countless hours to make sure their neighbors have access to free healthy food. Tarrant Area Food Bank North supplies nutritious food to our partners in North TX counties, including Cook, Denton and Wise.

However, before the food is distributed to families, volunteers are needed to help unpackage, sort, inspect and repackage the food in our quality control shifts. With our pantry program, you can help distribute food to people in need.

Help us combat hunger in America. We offer a variety of programs for volunteers to choose from, such as mobile distributions, farmers market nutrition program, and our many partner agencies.  Visit our volunteer’s page to sign up for a volunteer shift today.
