Ready to Learn – Youth Programs

With the Ready to Learn program, TAFB will ensure that children throughout the 13 counties that they serve are well-fed, healthy, and thriving. The Food Bank plans to accomplish this by doubling the number of in-school pantries to over 100 by the end of this year to guarantee that children have the most important school supply they need – food. Children that aren’t receiving proper meals and nutrition have behavioral issues, are sick more often, and fall behind in school. More in-school pantries will help provide fresh food for thousands of families at a location that is accessible and convenient to them.

In addition to doubling the number of in-school pantries, Tarrant Area Food Bank plans to open its new Ready to Learn Center next year. The Ready to Learn Center, located at Tarrant Area Food Bank, will include a market where families and children can shop for healthy, nutritious food. It will also include various kids’ programming such as a learning garden, cooking classes and food education classes.
