25th Annual CANstruction Fort Worth Competition and Exhibit Kicks Tarrant Area Food Bank to Alleviate Hunger
The art-themed CANstruction event to help Tarrant Area neighbors facing hunger.
September 20, 2024 (Dallas/Fort Worth) –The Tarrant Area Food Bank and CANstruction Fort Worth, a charity sponsored by the design and construction industry, team up once again for this annual charity event and friendly competition at Northeast Mall in Hurst. CANstruction is a design/build competition where teams of architects, engineers, and students compete to design and build giant structures made entirely from full cans of food, benefiting the Tarrant Area Food Bank.
This year’s theme for the 25th Annual CANstruction event, “End Hunger Like its 1999,” will feature seven 1999 inspired structures built entirely out of canned foods and other non-perishable food items by teams consisting of architects, engineers, and like-minded students. The results are displayed to the public as magnificent sculpture exhibits in each city where a competition is held.
At the close of the exhibitions, all the canned food used in the structures is donated to the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Since the inception of this annual competition, CANstruction Fort Worth has provided millions of canned food items for neighbors facing hunger across the Tarrant Area Food Bank’s 13-county service area.
