Medicaid and SNAP Renewal Assistance

SNAP

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP helps low-income and temporarily unemployed people purchase nutritious foods. An individual or a family may be eligible for SNAP even if they own a home, don’t have a mailing address or are undocumented.

CHIP

Children’s Health Insurance Program or CHIP provides health insurance coverage for Texas children from low-income families.

TANF

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families or TANF provides temporary financial assistance for families with children under age 18 while parents are seeking employment.

Women's Health Program

Provides coverage for an annual family-planning exam and contraception at no cost for uninsured Texas women between the ages of 18 and 44.

MEPD

Medicaid for the Elderly and People with Disabilities or MEPD provides care for adults age 65 or older, or disabled who need help with their daily activities in their home, nursing home or other facility.

R.E.D. Bus

The purpose of the R.E.D. Bus is to provide resource assistance and nutrition education to communities with high levels of food insecurity. Click on the bus below to see where the R.E.D. Bus will be in your community.

What You Will Need When Applying for Benefits
Who can qualify?

You may qualify for SNAP if…

Only U.S. citizens and certain lawfully-present non-citizens may receive SNAP benefits. Non-citizens who are eligible based on their immigration status must also meet other SNAP eligibility requirements such as income and resource limits.

If you are undocumented, and have children who are United States citizens, you can apply for SNAP on their behalf.
