Tarrant Area Food Bank Kicks Off Hunger Action Month this September with Many Ways to Get Involved Thanks to its Generous Sponsor H-E-B.
FORT WORTH, TEXAS (August 27, 2024) – September is Hunger Action Month and the Feeding America network of food banks, like the Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB), are encouraging the public to join their local food banks in the effort to end hunger. This September, TAFB will be partnering with H-E-B to raise awareness and inspire action across its 13-county service area. To kick off the month, TAFB is hosting a Back-To-School Mega Mobile Food Distribution Herman Clark Memorial Stadium, Friday August 30 from 8a-10a.
“This year during Hunger Action Month, we are encouraging everyone to do something to alleviate hunger in our community. Whether volunteering at our upcoming Back-to-School event, donating to TAFB, or by elevating their voices on hunger-issues. Our individual actions can make a big difference when we work together to alleviate hunger” said Julie Butner, TAFB’s President & CEO. This Hunger Action Month, the Tarrant Area Food Bank has several key initiatives focused on raising awareness about hunger in our community and funds in support of its work.
- HAM Kickoff Breakfast, Thursday, August 29 at TAFB from 8a-10p: TAFB will kick off HAM with a breakfast with key dignitaries and friends of the food bank for the State of Hunger address from TAFB’s President & CEO, Julie Butner.
- TAFB Back-To-School Mega Mobile Distribution, Friday, August 30 from 8a-10a: Tarrant Area Food Bank Back to School Mega Mobile Distribution, Herman Clark Stadium 515 C. A Roberson Blvd, Fort Worth, TX, 76119
- Hunger Action Day, Tuesday, September 10: TAFB is calling on friends of the Food Bank to wear orange in recognition of Hunger Action Month and to raise awareness about food insecurity in our community.
- H-E-B Ready to Learn School Market Grand Opening, Thursday, September 12: at Mansfield Summitt High School: H-E-B and TAFB will host a grand opening of its newest Ready To Learn School Market at Mansfield Summit High School – a Mansfield ISD school located at 1071 Turner Warnell Rd. Arlington 76001
- North Texas Giving Day Event, Thursday, September 19: TAFB is celebrating North Texas Giving Day on September 19 and calling on food bank supporters to make a gift to the Tarrant Area Food Bank. H-E-B will match all contributions up to $10,000 and proceeds will benefit the Ready To Learn School Market program to ensure children and families have the food that they need this school year.
