Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP)

In 2025, TAFB will be able to offer the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) through TDA! This program will provide qualifying low-income adults age 60+ with $50 worth of vouchers to use for vegetables, fruit and honey at our partnered Farmers Markets. This program is similar to the Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) for families receiving WIC benefits. Vouchers will be issued for SFMNP from May-September on a first come-first served basis.

How do I qualify?

1. Bring one form of ID to a participating market. Examples below:

Birth certificate
Baptismal certificate
Health card
Identification card
Driver's license
Military ID
Veteran ID
Passport
Refugee visa

2. Come to market or send proxy with a note giving your permission

3. Fill out application ahead of time or at market

4. Verify income on application

Shop early in the day for the best selection.
Learn what’s in season in our area.
Subscribe to, or follow, the Farmers Market updates.
Talk with the Farmers; they are proud of what they grow.
Bring a reusable shopping bag.
Use all of your vouchers by the end of October before they expire.
Come back throughout the season.

Rights & Responsibilities

Using Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program Vouchers:

Each voucher is worth $10.00 of produce at a participating Texas Department of Agriculture certified farmers market. Vouchers may be redeemed for eligible produce by farmers displaying an SFMNP Vendor Poster. No cash change may be given. You may redeem your vouchers at Cowtown Farmers Market: 8901 Clifford St., Ft. Worth, TX 76108 or other participating locations.
As a participant of SFMNP, you have the right to complain about improper farmer/farmers’ market practices regarding SFMNP responsibilities. The Food & Nutrition (F&N) Complaint Link is provided in English and Spanish at https://squaremeals.org/About/ContactFoodandNutrition.aspx for persons wishing to file a complaint with F&N at the Texas Department of Agriculture. For assistance with the complaint process, or if you do not have access to an electronic device to submit your complaint, please call (833) 862-7499 and someone will assist you.
I certify that the information I have provided for eligibility determination is correct to the best of my knowledge. Program officials may verify information on this form.
SFMNP benefits are provided in connection with the receipt of federal assistance. I understand that the deliberate misrepresentation may subject me to civil or criminal prosecution under state and federal law.
I may appeal any decision made by the local agency regarding my eligibility for the Program. A request for a fair hearing can be submitted to the organization.
Nutrition education will be made available to me and I am encouraged to participate in this service.
I understand that I may not participate in the SFMNP in another service area while receiving vouchers at this location.
I understand that I may assign an authorized representative (proxy) to redeem my vouchers at the farmers’ market.
I understand that food provided by this program is intended for the participants for whom they are prescribed.
I consent to the release of information to SFMNP staff, the officials of USDA, the Texas Department of Agriculture, and the food contracting organization.
I have been advised of my rights and obligations under the program. If I think I have been unfairly treated as a program participant, I may request a fair hearing through Texas Department of Agriculture. Civil Rights must be forwarded to USDA and TDA immediately. A complainant has 180 days to file a CR complaint.
