A recent Farm Bill proposal would freeze the cost of the Thrifty Food Plan, the basis for SNAP benefits, and result in a roughly $30 billion cut to SNAP benefits over the next decade that would affect every SNAP participant. This includes an estimated $2.29 billion cut in Texas.
