Hunger doesn’t discriminate. No matter what time of year it is, what education background or occupation a person holds, a variety of circumstances can arise that place our friends, family, and neighbors in need of assistance. The good news is help is out there. Tarrant Area Food Bank is able to provide resources to those in need through a network of partner food pantries, donors, volunteers and more.
If you or someone you know faces hunger, share this blog post with them. We have listed three resources that families and individuals who face hunger can use.
Food Map
We distribute food to pantries, senior centers, and other nonprofits across North Texas who serve those in need. If you or someone you know faces hunger, visit our Find Food Map to locate a food pantry closest to where they live. It’s easy to find a pantry, simply enter your address or ZIP code in the designated box for a list of pantries to display.
Rolling to a Neighborhood Near You
Our mobile food pantries take place on a set schedule in counties across North Texas. Visit the Mobile Pantries page on our website to download the schedule.
Cooking Does Matter
Through partnerships in the community and with Share Our Strength we are able to offer Cooking Matters courses FREE to the public. These hands-on courses are taught by nutrition and culinary instructors who volunteer to teach nutrition, cooking, food budgeting and shopping techniques. Groceries are provided for participants to take home at the end of class each week so that they can practice preparing the healthy recipes at home to share them with their families.
Our first classes of the year start the week of Jan. 20. View the schedule for locations and registration contact information.
