With the Ready to Learn program, TAFB will ensure that children throughout the 13 counties served are well-fed, healthy and thriving. The In-School Markets are on-campus markets that provide families and students with access to healthy, kid-friendly groceries to take home and prepare nutritious meals all school year long. Children that aren’t receiving proper and nutritious meals have a difficult time staying focused in class, are sick more often, and fall behind in school. More in-school markets will help provide fresh food for thousands of familes at a location that is accessible and convenient to ensure kids are Ready to Learn!
Available to our in-school market partners, schools may access an inventory of individually packaged nutirtious snacks to ensure children do not have the distraction of grumbling bellies during the school day. Bridging the gap between school-meals, having access to a healthy snack may be just what a child needs to reenergize.
TAFB plans to open its new Ready to Learn Resource Center. The Ready to Learn Resource Center, located at TAFB, will include a kid-friendly market where families can receive nutritious groceries on-site at TAFB. The Ready to Learn Resource Center will also include various kids’ programming such as a learning garden, cooking classes, and food education classes.
Help children understand the effects of hunger on mental health and well-being. This presentation enables youth to identify the signs and help peers struggling with hunger. Presentations are free and can be paired with a mobile food distribution.
Age-appropriate nutrition education for pre-k – 12th grade. Classes can be done at a host location, TAFB, or a collaboration of both. Each class will include hands-on activities and a healthy snack.
Open to high school seniors who are ready to lead, serve and advocate for issues affecting their community.
