Tarrant Area Food Bank’s President & CEO Julie Butner Appointed
to Feeding America’s Board of Directors

 

April 5, 2024 (Dallas/Fort Worth)The Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) announces the appointment of Julie Butner, President & CEO to the Feeding America Board of Directors. Feeding America is the US’ largest domestic hunger-relief organization. The Feeding America Board of Directors is made up of a diverse group of individuals from both the private and non-profit sectors. The group helps to set and guide Feeding America’s strategic direction to help fulfill the vision of an America where no one is hungry.  Butner’s term will begin on July 1, 2024, the beginning of Feeding America’s 2025 fiscal year.

“I often speak of my optimism around our ability to change the face of hunger in this country for the good. Having new members of our board choose to serve in this way is a significant part of the reason for my optimism,” said Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America. “Julie is a known, trusted advocate for thriving communities. She brings unique experiences and perspectives to our work to ensure everyone has access to the food and resources they need to thrive. I look forward to advancing our mission alongside her and deepening our commitment to seeking guidance from neighbors facing hunger.”

Julie has served the Fort Worth community through leadership roles in many organizations including: the Feeding Texas Board of Directors, Food Bank News Editorial Advisory Board, Leukemia Society, Charles Schwab Challenge Executive Women’s Day, Delta Gamma Fraternity, Fort Worth Sister Cities, and The Cowtown Marathon.  However, this one is special to her.  “It is an honor to be appointed to the Board of Directors’ of an organization that works tirelessly in the fight against hunger.  This service allows me to bring critical successes of Tarrant Area Food Bank to Feeding America, and to bring the best practices of the Feeding America network to our local community.” said Julie Butner, President, and CEO of the Tarrant Area Food Bank  “I look forward to sharing our work in North Texas with this prestigious organization and an opportunity to advance hunger relief efforts in the 13 counties that we serve.”
